The Mount Harriet to Madhuban trek, located in South Andaman, is one such experience that will reward all nature lovers to the fullest. This 16 km stretch trail is a confusing one. At the top of the black cliff, this trek commands an excellent view of the coastline and the open sea. For a shorter yet scintillating trek, the path from Havelock Island to Elephant Beach is the best. The trail will take one through a gigantic and enchanting wilderness, further proceeding into a mangrove forest that opens onto the beautiful Elephant Beach. Normally, this trek takes about 45 minutes to complete, and it is rather easy for all kinds of trekkers. The entire path is covered with green vegetation. The refreshing coastal breeze adds to the experience even more. Elephant Beach, with crystal waters and a floor of colourful marine life, stands as a perfect reward for the end of the trek.
Trekking into the Limestone Caves of Baratang Island is a unique adventure combined with mangrove forests and intricate cave systems. This short trek is about 15-20 minutes through the thick forest and over rough ground to the spectacular limestone formations. Millions of years old, the caves are an interesting look into the geological history of the islands. This walk is perfect for those who like nature but with just a little adventure added.
Yet, one of the most interesting trekking destinations in North Andaman lies amidst the heart of Diglipur Island: the Raman or Alfred Caves and the Saddle Peak. The Raman Caves happen to be one of the least explored yet incredibly beautiful caves in a series of interlinked and isolated ones. Trekking through these caves is like entering right into the heart of the mystique landscapes of the island. Saddle Peak is the highest point in the Andamans, at 732 meters, which leads one to a bit more strenuous trek. This one takes you through rich biodiversity, including evergreen forests, indigenous bird species, and rare insects. The view from the top is panoramic, with the surrounding islands and the Kalpong River, which flows through the region. This trek gives you a heady mix of natural beauty, adventure, and great views.
