Explore Kalipur Beach: Explore the magic.

Kalipur Beach is a gem, located in the quiet village of Kalipur in the Andaman Islands. The place, owing to its grey volcanic sands and crystal-clear water, stands out as a unique site. It is not only a picture-perfect site but is also an essential habitat for the turtles during the whole process of nesting. Kalipur Beach is perfect for any nature lover, adventure-seeker, or someone simply in need of an escape into some peace and quiet.

Culture and Heritage: A Haven for Turtles

Kalipur Beach is one of the main nesting sites of sea turtles in Andaman Islands, and four such species of sea turtles visit this beach namely Olive Ridley, Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green Turtles. The Beach fills during the months between October and March when, during this turtle nesting season, it becomes a vantage ground.

Kalipur also weaves conservation work with local culture and heritage. To avoid the disruption of turtle eggs, the department has erected a hatchery to ensure survival for hatchlings. Security guards patrol the beach around the clock to protect these wonderful creatures and eggs from depredation. It is an awe-inspiring experience to watch a turtle lay eggs under the moonlight or tiny hatchlings move towards the ocean. It showcases the commitment of the area to wildlife preservation.
