Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep)

Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) is the most visited of the Andaman Islands. It is becoming popular for its beaches, laid back vibe and great scuba diving.

Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) is famous for its pristine beaches, coral reefs and for a relaxing holiday. Radhanagar Beach is the most beautiful on the Island and was rated as the best in Asia by Time and recently it was rated as India’s Best Beach by CNBC in the Year 2011. Gorgeous, silky white sand backed by a forest that provides welcome shade looks out over turquoise water, some stretches with a sandy bottom good for swimming and some with excellent coral reefs that are great for snorkeling – a great combination indeed. Sunsets here are often spectacular and it’s a popular time to be at the beach.

The Best time to visit Radhanagar Beach is in the Afternoon around 14:00hrs.

Through Private Cruise – Currently, 02 Private ships Makruzz & Coastal Cruise operates between Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) & Port Blair. It takes One and Half Hour, to reach Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep).

Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep)

This beautiful Island with Lush Green Forest and Sandy Beaches are the vegetable bowl of Andaman’s. It provides an ideal holiday for eco friendly tourist. One can feel the serenity of village life. The beaches at Lakshmanpur, Bharatpur & Sitapur and natural bridge formation on the sea shore are fascinating. Snorkeling and scuba diving are activity option. Lots of shells are around if you are a shell collector.

Long Island

Long Island (82 km. from Port Blair)

Connected by boat four times a week from Phoenix Bay Jetty, this island offers an excellent sandy beach at Lalaji Bay, an unpolluted environment, and evergreen forests. The sea around the island is frequented by dolphin convoys. Lalaji Bay, 6 km. away from the boat jetty, is accessible by 15 minutes journey in dinghies or trekking through the forest.

The Island can be reached through Govt. ferries that take approx. 04 hrs to reach Long Island from Port Blair.

Baratang Island

Baratang Island (100 Kms. by Road Port Blair)

This island between South and Middle Andaman has beautiful Mangroves Creeks, Mud-Volcanoes and Limestone-Caves. Andaman Trunk Road to Rangat and Mayabunder goes through this Island. Lime Stone Cave can be explored with the permission of Forest Department (from Baratang) and proper local guidance (which will be arranged by Andaman Excursion). There is no scope to have a stay on this Island as Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has declared Baratang Island as Buffer Zone. Keep packed food and drinking water while visiting the limestone caves.

To Visit Baratang Island the options are by Private Car or By Bus. To visit this Island one has to start at 04:00 AM or max. By 06:00 AM from the Hotel and can be reached back only in the evening. Journey time from Port Blair – Baratang Island is of 04 hrs.

Rangat (170 Kms. by Road and 90 Kms. by Sea from Port Blair)
One can enjoy the quiet village life and solitude of virgin nature in this part of Middle dweller. Amkunj Beach and Cuthbert Bay Beach are the beaches near Rangat. Cuthbert Bay is a Turtle-Nesting Ground. One can view the nesting of turtle during December- February season. One can also go to Mayabunder and Diglipur from here. Rangat Island can be reached through Govt. Ferry or through Road Transport. This Island falls after Baratang Island via Road and takes 03hrs. from Baratang Island.

Mayabunder

 

 

Mayabunder (242 Kms. by Road from Port Blair)
Situated in the Northern part of Middle Andaman Island. Mayabunder offers excellent scenic beauty, mangrove creeks, and beautiful beaches. Inhabited by the settlers from Burma and East Pakistan. Mayabunder has a distinct culture. Beaches at Avis Island and Karmatang are fascinating. Mayabunder Island can be reached through Govt. Ferry & Road Transport. This Island falls after Rangat Island and takes Couple of Hours to reach Mayabunder Island from Rangat Island.

Diglipur Island

Diglipur Island (375 Kms. by Road from Port Blair)
Situated in North Andaman Island, Diglipur provides a rare experience for eco-friendly tourists. It is famous for its Oranges, Rice, Forest wealth and Marine- Life. Saddle Peak (732 meters), the Highest Point in the Andaman is nearby. Kalpong, the only river of Andaman flows from here. The first and only hydroelectric project of the Islands is on the river. Trekking to Saddle Peak through the evergreen forest can be experienced with a Guide. Kalipur, Lamiiya Bay & Ram Nagar beaches and sand-bar joining Ross and Smith Islands is a fascinating experience. This Island comes after Mayabunder and it takes a couple of hours from Mayabunder to reach Diglipur via Road.
This Island can be reached through Govt. Ferries those depart in the Night and you will reach Diglipur by Morning Sunrise. Another way to reach Diglipur Island is Via Road that takes close to 09 hrs. from Port Blair. Only Day Light driving is allowed on these roads (port Blair – Diglipur). Another option is of Sea Plane which takes close to 01 hours to reach this island from Port Blair and it costs Rs. 10,000/- per person for one way travel.

Ross & Smith Island
Ross and Smith, the twin islands joined by a bewitching sandbar, is 30 minutes away from the Aerial bay harbor or Kalipur water sports center. One who prefers to be away from the hustle and humdrum of urban life must come here to enjoy unhurried holidays. Words are not enough to describe the beauty of this Island. It’s a Must Visit Destination on the Island. The Two Islands are Joined together to become a single island during low tide and at high tide, it becomes Two Separate Islands. This Island in itself is the evidence of the presence of Super Power.

Barren Island (139 km. By Sea from Port Blair)
The only active volcano in India is located in Barren Island. The volcano erupted twice in recent past, once in 1991 and again in 1994-95, after remaining dormant for about 177 years. This Island is about 3 km in diameter and has a big crater of the volcano, about half kilometer away from the shore. Tourist Travel through ships and without getting down on the island they get the whole enchanting feeling of the island. True to its name, it is a barren area uninhabited by humans, though it has a small population of goats. Also birds, bats, and a few rodent species.
The Island can be visited by chartered boats only with the permission of forest department. Foreigners are restricted to on-board vessels only and landing ashore is not allowed.

Cinque Island
26 km from Port Blair, declared as a sanctuary, this is an enchanting Island with Rare Corals and Under-Water Marine, fine silver color sandy – beach and tropical Rain-Forest.
No scheduled ferry service to Cinque Island is available. Chartered boats of the permitted category are allowed from Port Blair. The Journey time from Port Blair to Cinque Island is of 02hrs.
The Island can be visited by chartered boats only with the permission of forest department. Foreigners are restricted to on-board vessels only and landing ashore is not allowed.

Little Andaman Island (120 km. by Sea from Port Blair)
Little Andaman Island, located south to the South Andaman Island, has various attractions in store for the tourists. There are two waterfalls on the island, both in the midst of the evergreen rain-forest. This island has a beautiful beach at Butler Bay, a waterfall, and plantation of oil palms. Apart from this, there are several sandy beaches all along the coastline of the Island. The breakwater at Hut Bay offers an excellent view of the tourists.
The only way to reach Little Andaman is by Small Ships and Sea Plane. Journey time by ship is 8 hrs from Port Blair and through Sea Plane, it takes hardly 01 hr.

Jolly Buoy
The gorgeous Islands of Andaman and Nicobar are blessed with the presence of another petite Island designated as Jolly Buoy which is regarded as one of those majestic and enticing locales which virtually beckons with its irresistible charm and splendor. In fact, the Jolly Buoy is cautiously cradled in the heart of the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor.
If you happen to possess a mellow spot for exploring the enigmatic and intriguing underwater life, the venue of Jolly Buoy in Andaman and Nicobar islands will certainly not disappoint you. As a matter of fact, an entire array of diverse corals and baffling marine life dwells in the emerald blue waters of the immense seas.
To reach Jolly Buoy Island first we should reach Wandoor and from there a steamer will take us to Jolly Buoy Island. The Whole Journey time for One way would be of 01hr. & 30 months.

Red Skin Island
It is the exotic locale of the Red Skin Island at Andaman and Nicobar Islands that attracts visitors from all across the globe due to its unique and enigmatic beauty that will surely captivate you in a state of trance. Being positioned inside the premises of the Marine National Park, the Red Skin Island in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is bequeathed with a varied range of natural marvels which truly dazzles the on-lookers.
This Island is a substitute for Jolly Buoy Island, at the time Jolly Buoy Island remains closed for maintenance, this Island becomes operational.

Ross Island

The Ross Island is about 2kms East of Port Blair and can be reached by a short boat ride from (Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex also Called as Marine Park). The Island is controlled by the Indian Navy, which requires every visitor to sign in on entering.
Ross Island had been the administrative headquarters of Britishers at some point in time. During those days, it was thickly populated and adorned a beauty which is not descriptive. Britishers had a fine settlement here and apart from that many else came here to spend some luxurious stay. It is due to these that Ross Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was titled “Paris of the East”.
Nowadays, Ross Island at Andaman and Nicobar Islands are under the supervision of the Navy. Though the island does not boast of the same thick population, it is thickly covered by a wide range of fauna and flora. Most of the ancient buildings and monuments have been destroyed by the 1941 earthquake that rocked the Island and brought everything to a standstill at this picturesque locale.
One can see remnants of an opulent past in the ruins of the church, swimming pool and the chief commissioner’s residence with its huge Gardens and Grand Ballrooms. There is also a cemetery and a small museum managed by the Indian Navy. The museum has on display a collection of old records.

Viper Island

Initially, the Britishers used to accommodate convicts here. The first jail was constructed at Viper Island which was abandoned after the construction of Cellular Jail. It has a gallows atop a hillock, where condemned prisoners were hanged. Sher Ali, who killed Lord Mayo, the Viceroy of India in 1872, was also hanged here.
Viper Island is a serene beautiful tourist destination and can be approached by harbor cruise originating from (Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex also Called as Marine Park) in Port Blair. This place is visited by a number of tourists as it has multiple attractions with historical importance and also has mesmerizing picnic spots with natural picturesque environments.

North Bay Island
This Island is famous for its beaches and mainly for water sports activities. Almost all kinds of water sports activities can be covered here right from Jet Ski Ride to Underwater Sea Walking. It is 20mnts away from Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex also Called as Marine Park by small boats.
Ross Island, North Bay Island & Viper Island all these three Islands can be covered on a single day by the boat that leaves at 09:30 am and leaves you back at 05:00pmto Port Blair.

Chatham Island
Chatham Island is widely popular for the sawmill that lies there. The mill is counted amongst one of the largest and ancient in the whole of Asia. The island is very small and is connected with Port Blair by a bridge over the narrow strip of sea water. The island has been an attraction for its small size. The view of the island amidst the seawater from the bridge is mesmerizing.
