Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) – How to reach the place?

This island is truly one of the biggest attractions that the Andaman has to offer. And so, there are a surprising number of options that you can explore from Port Blair if you are wondering how to reach the place. The distance between Port Blair and Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) isn’t longer than a couple of hours so don’t worry – your precious time in the Andaman wouldn’t be wasted in a long commute. To reach the island, you have the following two modes of transport:

You can choose to travel to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) from Port Blair in total air conditioned luxury on a Catamaran ferry. The ride will get you to reach the island in about 90-120 minutes during which you can experience riding the up-and-down waves on the open sea as your vessel cuts through the water at high speeds. Or you can choose to travel via Government run ferries and enjoy the open sea for longer. Here is all you need to know before making your choice:

• run ferries are quite cheap but take longer to reach Havelock (Swaraj Dweep) – 90 minutes via speed boat and 3 hours for slower ferries. The ones that go via Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) take an additional 1 hour to get you to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep). All ferries leave from Phoenix Bay jetty.
• Private ferries are more expensive (almost twice the cost of government run ferries) but are a lot faster and way more comfortable. Makruzz run by Mak Logistics, Port Blair & Coastal Cruise operated by Coastal Seaways India Pvt. Ltd., Green Ocean and Bhagya Express are the options that you can choose from.
• Schedules are subject to change, but usually, you can select a ferry between 6AM to 2PM from Port Blair to Havelock (Swaraj Dweep). Most ferries begin their return journey between 3 and 4 PM.
